DuitNow Online Banking/Wallet is backed by Issuer Banks (Debiting Agents) and Acquirer Banks (Crediting Agents), enabling customers to make payments to DuitNow Pay using their preferred bank or wallet. From the merchant portal or mobile app, customers select their preferred payment method, are redirected to their bank or wallet to approve the transaction, and then return to the merchant site to complete the purchase.

Acquirer
An acquirer is the entity that facilitates payment acceptance on behalf of merchants or billers. It connects the merchant to the DuitNow network, receives confirmation of fund transfers, and ensures that the funds are settled into the merchant’s account after the transaction is successfully processed.
Issuer
An issuing bank is the financial institution where the customer, or payer, holds their account. It is responsible for authenticating the customer and authorizing payment requests. Upon successful authorization, the issuing bank deducts the funds from the customer’s account and provides response codes that indicate whether the transaction was successful or not.
Merchant Acquirer
A merchant acquirer is the entity that enables merchants to accept DuitNow Online Banking/Wallet (DOBW) payments. It is responsible for onboarding merchants to the DuitNow DOBW service and managing the reconciliation and settlement of funds to the merchants.
